The Session Log app has been replaced on the acquisition computer. It works essentially the same as before, but was streamlined and it no longer uses 100% of one CPU core.
As before, the log file is saved automatically every time the text area is changed, and before exiting.
It might be tempting to some to click the save button to “feel” like it really saved, but don’t. That button is to save a copy (see below). If you want to confirm it is saved, look at the log’s modified time in the file list on the right, or with a file manager or from the command line. Recall that “today” in the terminal will bring you to the current acquisition folder.
There are now 5 buttons in a toolbar at the top:
- Save log copy: Not normally needed, but in case the automatic saving fails, e.g. due to permissions issues, this button will turn red and can be used to save the log somewhere else. (Not expected to happen.)
- Insert “Artefact description” template: This will insert a small template at the top of the text area, to write a description of artefacts seen in this participant, e.g. dental work. This is so it can later be automatically saved in the proper field in the BIDS metadata (
*_meg.jsonfile). If you press it again later, it goes back to the same template, ready to add more notes in this field. - Copy pictures: Same as before, but goes to the correct folder on the camera, as long as it’s connected before pressing this button. The pictures are also copied immediately. No more “Acquisition complete” button. Also logged in the text area.
- Copy digitization: Same as before, but file is copied immediately. Also logged in the text area.
- Settings: I can edit the default paths here, in case we change camera or where the digitization files are stored.
Comments and suggestions welcome.
