Guide: How to request IT support from the BIC

To request BIC IT support please send an email to bicadminrt@bic.mni.mcgill.ca following the guidelines provided in this post.

Please provide a descriptive subject line for your email, as this will become the title of your support ticket.

Please copy-paste applicable questions below into the email request.

What is your BIC username?

Briefly describe the issue you’re having.

Has this happened before, or is it the first time?

Provide the name of the BIC system: server, website or workstation ,where this issue is/was observed, along with the name(s) of any implicated storage device.

If the issue relates to a BIC workstation, what is the building and room number where it’s located? Also provide the network jack number (follow the network cable to the wall plate) if you lost network connectivity.

If the issue relates to a web site, which browser are you using?

What is the expected behavior VS. what is happening?

Provide all the steps/commands to reproduce the problem, along with error messages - also include a screenshot if it will help us to understand.
